Juelz Santana will remain jailed in federal custody pending a hearing on weapon charges stemmed from a handgun found in a bag at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport.
The Diplomats rapper, born LaRon James, appeared in a Newark federal court Monday (March 12), just three days after he fled when security personnel pulled aside his bag for additional screening as he was heading to board a flight from Newark to San Francisco. A loaded .38-caliber handgun was discovered in his carry-on bag, which also contained his identification. Upon fleeing, authorities say Santana left two bags behind. He eventually turned himself in on Sunday (March 11).
Santana, 36, will remain in custody until a preliminary hearing is set for March 26.
