There’s no doubt that Travis Scott has been winning all year long. From having a critically acclaimed album to an incredibly successful tour – which The Carters themselves attended – he’s been dominating 2018. And it looks like he’s keeping that same energy for 2019. The rapper is now in talks to join Maroon 5 for the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

According to TMZ, Scott will join M5 during the halftime show in Atlanta on Feb. 3.

This looks like a move in the right direction, as the Super Bowl planning committee has been dealing with several different challenges in the race to confirm the show. After Rihanna turned down their invitation to headline in support of Colin Kaepernick, the choice to have Maroon 5 front and center caused backlash from the music industry. Supporters felt that the organization was overlooking the historical hip hop impact that Atlanta has had on music.

Scott may not be from Atlanta, but the Houston native brings a fresh star power of his own. Having made major moves like bringing out Kendrick Lamar on tour and creating a festival of his own, it’s clear that the rapper is primed to perform for one of the biggest nights in TV and football history. His latest album Astroworld landed at number seven in the 14 rap albums that made up the top 20 of the Billboard 200.

Maroon 5 is also reportedly in talks with several other artists about possibly joining the show, including Cardi B and Outkast’s Big Boi. As we shared before, Cardi B may be tapped to perform her Maroon 5 collab “Girls Like You,” while tapping into an additional solo performance.

The 2019 Super Bowl marks the 53rd year of the most important night in the sports industry and would only further solidify Travis Scott’s place in music history.
