Chance the Rapper has made a new charitable pledge, this time announcing that his nonprofit organization, SocialWorks, will be donating $1 million to go towards bettering mental health services in Chicago.

According to the announcement, which Chance made at the second annual summit for SocialWorks on Thursday (Oct. 4), six different mental wellness providers will each receive $100,000 grants as part of the donation.

Additionally, Chance has announced that the nonprofit will be launching a new initiative, My State of Mind, which is dedicated to improving mental health resources in Cook County, Illinois. One major component of the initiative is a new comprehensive guidebook, made available both digitally and physically, designed to help guide people to seeking the proper resources and services that best fit their needs. During the announcement, Chance explained that a major focus for the initiative stems from wanting “to change the way that mental health resources are being accessed.”

On top of focusing on the new mental health leg of his nonprofit work, Chance also confirmed plans to donate to an additional 20 Chicago Public Schools, adding onto the millions he has given in recent years. Per the summit, the goal is to distribute another $2 million toward the public school system, with companies like Google assisting in the initiative.

Recently, Chance the Rapper’s friend, mentor and collaborator Kanye West announced that he will be participating in a livestreamed conversation focusing on mental health with Charlemagne Tha God on Oct. 17.

Prior to performing on SNL and once again vocalizing support for Donald Trump, Ye shared with fans that he and Chance are working on a joint album, possibly to be released sometime this year.
