Drake has reached the middle point of his three-month Aubrey and the Three Migos tour, as the Toronto superstar is doing what he can to keep his live show as entertaining and polished as possible.
After bringing LeBron James and Travis Scott onstage during the Saturday installment (Oct. 13), Drake delivered once again the following night, completing his weekend long takeover of Los Angeles with a bang. During the show on Sunday (Oct. 14), Drizzy surprised those in attendance with several special guests: Cardi B, Playboi Carti and Lil Baby.
Cardi, who recently hinted that she has new music on the way, came out to rap her verse on “MotorSport.” That performance marked her latest since appearing at the 2018 AMAs the week prior. Additionally, during the high-energy set, Drake gave Playboi Carti the floor, during which he performed his hit single “WokeUpLikeThis.” Later, Lil Baby and Drake delighted the crowd by running through their collaborative track, “Yes Indeed.” Definitely a night for the books.
This weekend, Drake made an appearance on King James’ “The Shop”show, during which he discussed everything from his history with Rihanna, to the backstory surrounding his beef with Pusha T, to being a single father. While fans had a lot to unpack regarding the episode, many fixated on Drake diving deep about working with Kanye West and how he had another diss track ready to go where he said “terrible things” about Pusha T. He also revealed that he asked for James’ blessing after deciding not to move forward with the rebuttal track. The basketball legend reassured him that they will always be family.
“Rap purists and people who love confrontation, they love to say, ‘There’s no rules to this s—!’ There are f—king rules to this s—t,” Drake said, during the conversation. “I’m gonna tell you something, I knew something was gonna come up about my kid. They had to add the deadbeat dad thing to make it more appealing, which is fine. The mom and dad thing… Whatever. You don’t even know my family.”
Drake then explained where, for him, the line was crossed.
“But wishing death upon my friend [producer Noah “40” Shebib] who has MS… I study rap battles for a living,” Drake said. “When you mention defenseless people who are sick in the hospital, who have passed away, I just believe that there’s a price you have to pay for that. It’s over! Someone’s gonna f—king punch you in the f—king face. The s—t’s done, the event’s over. I wanted to do other things. I didn’t want to further your career by rapping back to you and having this exchange.”
