The Meadow Music and Arts Festival was treated to the smooth sounds of Joey Bada$$, as well as new music from the MC.
During his exhilarating set, The All-Amerikkan Bada$$ who released his sophomore album earlier this year, let loose a sample of a new song of his that could potentially be tilted “Pull Up,” as the phrase was repeated several times throughout the record’s debut performance. It was unveiled that the snippet festival attendees were blessed with also features Flatbush Zombie’s Meechy Darko.
“I feel my only competition is Hov,” shouted the confident Pro Era leader, who later dedicated Capital STEEZ’s song “Dead Prez” to JAY-Z. Peace signs were held in the air in honor of STEEZ, the fallen member of the Pro Era collective, as Joey performed the record.
Backed by a band, the Brooklyn representer also recited the lyrics to his most popular records. Bada$$ wasn’t alone either, bringing Kirk Knight out to perform midway through his set.
The bad mon eventually turned the diverse audience into a mosh pit, before closing his set out with a performance of his highest charting single to date, “Devastated.”
