Eminem has ventured back into the world of film, and he may have another hit on his hands.
Bodied is an Eminem-produced satire that tells the story of a white graduate student who uses battle rap as a thesis subject and becomes obsessed with the competitive culture. The film, directed by music director Joseph Kahn, features cameos from Calum Worthy, Charlamagne Tha God, Jackie Long, and various King of the Dot, URL and FreshCoast battle rappers like Dizaster, Loaded Lux and Dumbfounded.
The two-hour film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival Thursday (September 7) and was a huge hit, packing out a 1,200+ seat auditorium. Festival goers and critics alike seemed to appreciate the film, giving it rave reviews on social media.
Fans will also be happy to know that there are talks that Eminem and Dr. Dre will contribute to the film’s soundtrack.
“By the time it’s bought and ready for distribution (ICM is selling worldwide rights), Eminem will contribute a number of songs to the soundtrack. [Em and longtime manager Paul Rosenburg] have enlisted Dr. Dre for a couple of songs,” Kahn told The Hollywood Reporter.
