The moment that Q-Tip has been slowly bracing fans for has, unfortunately, finally arrived.
While the Tribe Called Quest founder has been hinting on multiple occasions that the end of an era is near, last night’s performance at Bestival marked the iconic hip-hop group’s final live show.
After losing founding member Phife Dawg last year, the group released their sixth studio album, We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, announcing that the project doubles as their final addition to their celebrated discography.
A Tribe Called Quest toured the critically acclaimed album throughout the course of 2016, performing a slew of shows and sporadic festival dates as a way to pay tribute to the late legend and thank their fans for their unwavering support all these years.
Last night (Sept. 9) in the UK, Q-Tip declared that the show marked the iconic group’s final salute, telling the crowd, “A Tribe Called Quest, we suffered a blow. We lost our boy Phife Dawg. This is gonna be our last show as A Tribe Called Quest, ever.”
Take a look at some footage from last night’s historic and bittersweet farewell.
