It was only two days ago that Maroon 5 teased their collaboration with SZA, but the band didn’t make us wait long.

Serving as the third single from their upcoming sixth album—following the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Don’t Wanna Know” and Future-featuring “Cold”—”What Lovers Do” sees frontman Adam Levine and SZA closing out the summer strong with a dance-inducing, funk-tinged track that uses handclaps, synths both bouncy and immersive, and bass plucks to soundtrack their will-they-or-won’t-they inquiries.

They trade verses and hooks for most the song, but finally meet at the bridge where they both question the relationship status:

“Are we too grown for games? / Are we too grown to play around? / Young enough to chase / But old enough to know better / Are we too grown for changin’? / Are we too grown to mess around? / Oh, and I can’t wait forever baby / Both of us should know better.”
