It’s been slow at the box office as far as comedies are concerned, but Girls Trip, starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinkett Smith, proved that great films always win.
The film about four friends and their wild, yet long overdue, trip to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, hit the big screen on June 17, 2017. After an impressive opening week, Girls Trip has since grossed $107 million worldwide. That’s not bad for a movie that was only projected to gross $20 million.
The numbers could only increase as additional markets abroad continue to roll out the film throughout November. So far, Girls Trip has already made $7.4 million in the United Kingdom and could surpass Jordan Peele’s Get Out, which ended its run at $12.7 million.
