Justin Bieber surprised fans on Monday (July 24) when he announced plans to nix the remaining dates of his Purpose World Tour.

The Biebs canceled the remaining 14 dates of his world tour, which is in support of his colossal 2015 album Purpose. The singer announced the decision in a statement on his website, though he did not disclose the reason behind the move.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts,” the statement reads. “Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months. He is grateful and honored to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across 6 continents during this run. However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.”

Bieber had 14 shows left on the tour, which was comprised of mainly stadium dates, with Migos, Vic Mensa, and Martin Garrix as scheduled openers. The “Sorry” singer was set to hit Dallas’ AT&T Stadium on July 29th and then the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on August 5th. Moreover, this decision comes after he toured the album for almost two years — featuring scores of concerts on just about six continents.

The news of the cancellation quickly hovered above social media like clouds before a thunderstorm, as fans expressed everything from disappointment to praise about the Purpose Era drawing to a close.
