Jay Z in Jamaica? That’s as real as it gets.
“That’s why they feel me in… Waterhouse ‘cause real recognize real,” the Roc Nation mogul rapped on 2009’s “Real As It Gets,” a Jeezy-assisted standout on The Blueprint 3. This week, Jigga gave the line new life after a visit to Jamaica, where he hit up Kingston’s legendary Tuff Gong studio. While there, he spent time with fellow TIDAL co-owner and Roc Nation signee Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley. Now it’s unclear what Jay was working on during the trip, but it appears as though new material was being cooked up.
Will Jay Z drop a new album this year?
According to reports, Jigga filmed a new music video while in the Rema community in Trench Town, Kingston.
Aside from Marley, Jigga also met with local artists like Vanessa Bling, Ninja Kid, Junior Reid, Ziggy Marley, Tarrus Riley, Sister Nancy and more.
4:44 includes Mahershala Ali, Lupita Nyong’o and Danny Glover, but no Jay Z…yet
This update arrives as buzz begins to build behind the possibility that Jay has a new album approaching. Earlier in the week, a mysterious 4:44 ad popped up all throughout New York City and online, leading fans to on a duck hunt of theories and speculation. Then a new commercial for the talked about ad appeared during the NBA Finals, adding to more hype.
Between 4:44, this trip to Jamaica, and the upcoming festivals that Jay is set to headline this summer, it’s safe to say that Jigga SZN is definitely upon us.
