Last night (May 25) on “Drink Champs” on Revolt, guest Ice-T gave a tutorial on how to rob a jewelry store, told what it was like working with Denzel Washington and revisited the turmoil he lived in while going through the “Cop Killer” controversy in the mid-90s. But he also revealed that he and his good friend Tupac were not on the best terms when the revolutionary MC died in 1996.

“I’ll tell you some real inside shit,” Ice began to divulge to hosts DJ EFN, N.O.R.E. and N.O.R.E.’s C-N-N partner Capone, who was sitting in. “He was in my house, I had a studio called The Crack House. He was at my house with the Outlawz. A couple of The Outlawz and he played me ‘Hit Em Up,’ and I didn’t like it.

“I told him ‘you gonna start some shit,’” Ice continued. “I didn’t like him starting the beef. I said ‘you going in on dude’s wife and all that.’ We kind of was on bad terms with that. He wanted me to ride with him, but I couldn’t. We was kinda in that zone when he got killed.”

Ice said he was nervous for the record to come out because he felt the negative impact would be too heavy.

“It was a beef record and you gonna set it yelling ‘West Coast’? I knew that was going to turn into a real situation,” Ice surmised. “‘I’m not out-rapping you, I’m threatening you.’ I’m sitting back like who I’m supposed to be. I’m older. I’m sitting back in the studio listening to the playback and I’m like ‘dog, this is not a good idea. This is too much.’ Plus I’m cool with New York.”

Ice first met Tupac when Pac was still a backup dancer for Digital Underground. Over the years they fostered a friendship and Ice even appeared on Pac’s Strictly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z. LP.

“Long story short, I loved Pac. Pac was a good kid,” Ice said.

“I remember one time I was in LA and Pac pulled up on in me in a car. With this crazy ass chick. She was like a strawberry bitch [crack hoe] in the front seat. This broad, I seen wasn’t his woman,” Ice-T said. “I’m like ‘what is this bitch doing in the car?’ He had weed, he had a gun. He wanted me to sit the car and listen to a record. I’m like ‘nigga, what the … ? You riding around like this? Are you serious Pac? Are you fucking kidding me? He scared me. I was like ‘Pac man, this is crazy.’”
