DJ-producer Mura Masa has created an equal-parts promising and defining catalog thanks to the handful of smashes he consistently and quietly dropped over just the last two years.
First, there was the NAO-assisted “Firefly.” Then, “Love For That” with guest Shura. What followed was his first Billboard-charting single, “What If I Go” featuring Bonzai. And then his biggest hit: “Love$ick” with A$AP Rocky. Now, his “1 Night” track with Charli XCX is climbing.
Born in Guernsey, an independent island in the English Channel, the 19-year-old has already visited stateside audiences upon performing at Coachella earlier this month–he’ll do so again in July at Los Angeles’ FYF Fest–and now he’s finally detailed his forthcoming debut album.
Placing billboards and posters in the respective hometowns of each of his featured guests, Mura Masa announced the self-titled LP, due July 14. It will include all the aforementioned tracks (minus “Love For That”) plus nine more cuts and collaborations with Desiigner, Gorillaz creator Damon Albarn, A.K. Paul (who co-wrote and -produced Miguel’s Wildheart cut “Flesh” and NAO’s “Trophy”), soul singer Jamie Lidell, electronic R&Ber Tom Tripp, and French pop singer Christine and the Queens.
