Just in case Migos’ impact wasn’t clear after the trio ran Coachella without having a set, the trio has indisputable evidence on their side: a platinum plaque for their album CULTURE.
Migos used Instagram to announce that their sophomore album has officially passed the one million copies sold mark, a few months after the album debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 in January with 131,000 album-equivalent units.
The album’s success has largely been anchored on the viral, chart-topping “Bad & Boujee” and “T-Shirt,” but this plaque is a long time coming. Migos has been steering the direction of rap for years now, with singles like “Versace” and mixtapes like Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas), their signature flows, and the dance known as the dab. Their 2015 debut Yung Rich Nation only moved 14,000 copies in its first week – so reaching one million copies is a testament to their hard work.
