One of the biggest stars in tennis history dropped a bombshell on Wednesday: Serena Williams, 35 years old, posted on Snapchat the news that she is 20 weeks pregnant. She will be expecting the child with her fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of the popular news aggregator Reddit. The news was announced with a selfie of Williams sporting a yellow one-piece swimsuit highlighting her pregnant belly. Curiously, Williams decided to delete the post a couple of minutes afterward, but the news quickly spread through social media regardless. This would be the first child for both Williams and Ohanian.

Williams and Ohanian are known for dropping news with little buildup, because of the private nature of their social lives. For example, it was a surprise when Williams announced that the couple was engaged in December, even though the two had been linked on the down low since the fall of 2015. The announcement was made when she posted a poem on Reddit. The poem expressed in literary terms how Ohanian invited her to Rome, where they first met, to present her with an engagement ring.

Williams is a legendary tennis player in her own right. She holds the record for most Grand Slam titles of any player in the Open Era. Her most recent major was her Australian Open victory over her sister Venus in January, marking her 23rd Grand Slam title. She is currently nursing a knee injury she sustained before the BNP Paribas Open in March.

Ohanian, two years younger than Williams, is less known in the mainstream, but has had a great influence on the Internet. He co-founded Reddit with Steve Huffman in 2005 before leaving the company in 2010. He later helped launch a travel search website, has defended net neutrality, and has invested in several tech upstarts.
