The thought of Fabolous and Jadakiss teaming up for a joint project has always been a scary sight. Due to their lethal bars, killer flows and penchant for bodying beats, both rappers have remained two of hip hop’s most feared MCs. The highly respected lyricists first teased the idea of joining forces with a series of hard-hitting freestyles. On Friday, Nov. 24th – Black Friday – the tandem delivered on their promise of an album, with the release of Friday On Elm Street. In promotion of the project, Fabolous and Jadakiss stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss the new album, Meek Mill, and The Lox.
Fabolous and Jadakiss on the album feeling age-appropriate
Jadakiss: “We didn’t go for whatever the sound is now or no age demographic. We just made magic we thought was appropriate for the project.”
Fabolous: “That’s what it was more about – the project as a whole. I even took the Fabolous out of it, because I wasn’t trying to make radio singles or a joint for the girls. It was just about me and Kiss coming together for the project.”
Fabolous on the song “Let’s Talk About It”
“The whole song was done a year ago. That’s how you know the conversation is still needed to be had, because it was done before the election and now we are having the same conversations. Kaepernick, the NFL, the cop killings – all of that has still been going on since we even made that record. That song was about having the conversation. Let’s talk about what’ going on. Let’s not keep letting it happen and nobody say anything.”
Fabolous on Meek Mill
“There’s a lot of people that turned their lives around, and they mean more on the streets than they would in jail. Meek’s situation is really a situation that came from a long time ago, and he’s progressed in so many different ways, but they are still holding him to something he might have did when he was 19.”
Jadakiss hinting at new Lox project
“We got the full fledge coming soon.”
