As it is often universally agreed upon, it is best to celebrate our legends while they are still here.
The 2017 American Music Awards will be doing just that, selecting the iconic Diana Ross to receive its annual Lifetime Achievement Award.
The awards ceremony, which is set to air on Sunday, Nov. 19, will also feature a live performance from the legend herself. Throughout the course of her storied career, Ross has won seven total AMAs.
“I have endless memories of all the years that I have appeared on the American Music Awards,” Ross said in a statement reacting to the news she’ll be honored this year. “It started with Dick Clark and The Caravan of Stars and American Bandstand. It was Dick Clark who said, ‘Music is the soundtrack of our lives.’ So true. I am so excited to be receiving this honorable award.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award has previously been present to artists such as Whitney Houston, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and more.
Congrats to the illustrious Diana Ross on receiving this prestigious honor!
The AMAs will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 8pm ET on ABC.
