Very poetic. “The Man With The Iron Fist” will direct “Iron Fist.” It was revealed on Friday (January 27) that RZA helmed the lens for an episode of the upcoming Marvel/ Netflix series “Iron Fist.”
The show’s star, Finn Jones sat down with Extra for a “Facebook Live” session. While answering questions from the fans, Finn, who plays the series principal “Danny Rand,” spoke highly about working with the legendary Abbot of the Wu-Tang Clan.
“Actually, one of our episodes was directed by the RZA himself,” Jones, who had his breakthrough as Loras Tyrell in the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” told the audience. “Episode Six. So yeah there’s a very close tie with hip-hop and the ‘Iron Fist’ series.”
Jones described RZA as very clear on his goal of what he desired to bring forth onscreen
“He’s a dude. A complete dude,” Jones gushed. “Actually super chill. Has a vision of what he wants. He understands that genre. The martial arts genre.”
Jones on the other hand has clear understanding and love of hip-hop. The actor has been posting De La Soul of late on social media and when getting into the mind frame of his character, he called on more rap classics. Much like on the hit show “Luke Cage,” which takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’ll hear a lot from the genre on “Iron Fist.”
“I made a playlist on my iPod that Danny Rand would listen to,” Jones detailed. “It’s a lot of 90s hip-hop like De La Soul, Jurassic Five, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan. That kind of music is really what Danny is jamming to. We actually feature that in the series.”
“Iron Fist” debuts March 17 on Netflix.
