Last February, while sharing the slate for his record label’s upcoming album releases, Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony Tiffith announced that the roster had added two “new artists,” aptly and anonymously named “John Doe 1” and “John Doe 2.”

By the end of the year, he’d admitted that projects from both of the artists had already dropped, revealing one of them to be Lance Skiiiwalker, but remaining mum on the other.

But yesterday (January 19), Tiffith finally announced who “John Doe 2” was: SiR.

Sure enough, last Inglewood’s own singer, songwriter, producer and engineer (who’s previously worked with Robert Glasper, Bilal, Jill Scott and Tyrese) dropped his Big K.R.I.T.-assisted HER EP last October. We should’ve gotten the hint when Kendrick Lamar tweeted a link to the project with the simple instruction: “Look.”

HER follows SiR’s debut album Wooden Voodoo and applauded follow-up Seven Sundays, the latter of which saw production from Knxwledge (who’d also gone behind the boards on K.Dot’s To Pimp A Butterfly). And we’ve already loved its “Queen” and “All In My Head” cuts, but take a listen to the project below.

In other TDE news, despite Tiffith promising in that same slate that SZA’s debut album would drop in 2016, the year came and went, along with her frustrated announcement that she’d “quit” due to its delay. Thankfully, after a stunning lead single, SZA’s CTRL will be released this year.
