If you’re not onto “Blackish,” you’re missing out. And now even moreso since Tracee Ellis Ross has just made history by receiving an Emmy nomination for her role (as surgeon, mother, wife, and daughter-in-law “Rainbow”) on the show.

Upon being named a nominee for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy Series, Ross has become the first black woman in 30 years to do so.

The last to achieve this same recognition was Phylicia Rashad in 1986 for her role as Clair Huxtable in The Cosby Show.

And, recognizing this rare accomplishment, Ross has been making sure to honor the women who came before her with #WCWs on Instagram.

However, the only black woman to win the award was Isabel Sanford in 1981 for her role in The Jeffersons.

But overall, only five black actresses have ever been nominated in the category — the other two being Diahann Carroll (Julia) and Nell Carter (Gimme a Break!) — and that’s gotta change.
