Scottish singer Emeli Sandé released her debut album, Our Version of Events, on February 10, 2012 — exactly four months before Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange dropped. So while the wait will soon be over for Frank, we’re still tapping our fingers on the glass of the recording studio, waiting for Sandé.
We understand she’s been living her life in these four years. It’s your right, Emeli. But — much like Frank — she has teased us many times in the interim. Let’s review what she’s been up to:
She made a dream come true and sang with everyone’s idol, Stevie Wonder:
She joined Kendrick Lamar for a fire remix of “B-tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe”:
She signed with Roc Nation:
She wrote some lyrics in the park:
She melted our cold, cold hearts on this collab with the Robert Glasper Experiment, “Somebody Else”:
She split up with her husband (understandable heartbreak delay), but she got a new boo, rapper/producer Hypo (crazy in love delay)!
She opened for Nas and Maxwell:
Some orchestral musicians laid down strings for her album, and she said it was “very, very close now!”
She got the dance treatment in the song “Thunder” with Netsky:
And finally, on Wednesday she released this photo, writing “Hand in time #album 2.”
Looks like her part is done; now it’s in the hands of the label. Please don’t keep us waiting much longer. If Frank can finally release an album, Emeli, girl, you can too!
