Last year was a good one for Skrillex who, as one-half of Jack Ü (with Diplo), saw major critical and commercial success in their Justin Bieber-assisted hit “Where Are Ü Now.”
Sure, this year brought about a lawsuit filed against him, but he’s not slowing down. When the DJ/producer interview was interviewed by Billboard recently, he was joined by Bruno Mars, who was stalled on a freeway alongside him as they tried to make their way to the studio together. And Skrill’ dropped some promising teasers.
Giving a bit of insight into an upcoming collaboration between the two men, Skrillex said, “I’m not going to give specifics of what it sounds like, but what we’re doing is so f–king different, awesome and next level and sounds like nothing else that’s happened before.”
The duo also weighed in on the biggest misconceptions surrounding dance music. After turning to his friend, Skrillex said, “So, from Bruno Mars, he says the misconception of dance music is ‘untz untz untz.’ But it’s really sometimes ‘untz boom kak, untz boom kak.’”
Can’t wait to hear what they’ve got cooking.
