Eric Bellinger, “Spare Time”

Eric Bellinger is just tryna get in where he can fit in, and quite literally. On his newest single “Spare Time”—one of three newly-added bonuses to his Eventually EP—the Compton-born singer/songwriter looks to lock down a spot on his lady’s schedule: “Girl, do me a favor/ tell me, will you be my lunch time?/ on your lunch break/ before you go home/ can you squeeze a nigga in you, babe?” According to him, she doesn’t need to wear makeup, and he only requires a half-hour, so it’s a win-win for everybody, really. The track boasts echoey keys and rattling percussion that even Bellinger is hyped over, saying, the tune is “fun for the summer, chill enough to vibe out with your girl, but still has a strong 808 if you hit the club.” He also promises a remix with a verse from a surprise guest. Marshmello, “Alone”

Marshmello has returned with a new single entitled “Alone” via Monstercat, the independent Canadian-based EDM and dubstep label out of Vancouver. The single follows the release of his first music video for “Keep it Mello,” and its upbeat melody has unique movement patterns, drawing inspiration from trap-infused beats. At first listen, you won’t know what to expect, however, be prepared for a great piece of work.— Erin Ashley Simon

Naomi Pilgrim, “I Wonder”

Rhythmless, distorted scratches and scales kick off this song and give way for Naomi Pilgrim to take center stage. Her initial delivery sounds deliberate, like she’s rounding up her troops while detailing this failing relationship: “You sleep beside it/ You don’t know how this hunger burns/ the snow subsides and/ summer comes with a lesson learned.” Soon a bassline and percussive snaps come in to support her, making “I Wonder” a bit more uptempto, but making her no less a force to be reckoned with. Pilgrim’s Sink Line a Stone EP is due June 3.— D.C.
