Done with the old and out with the new. After announcing his departure from longtime label Funk Volume back in January, along with the notion that its “officially dead,” Hopsin has returned to speak his piece on the issue on “ILL Mind of Hopsin 8.”

The eighth installment in the California rapper’s song series finds him explaining the split within his label, which was co-founded with Damien Ritter. On the song he calls Ritter “a new age Jerry Heller” and explains what led to the end of their partnership.

“When I told you I wanted new management, why the fuck you throw a fit and seem bitter?

Why you catch an attitude whenever I question you about all my fuckin’ percentages?

I know why, you’ve been bending it in your benefit, your honor I’m innocent

This nigga crazy, I’m telling all of my people (you tell ’em) He taking all of my C-Notes (it’s true)

See he has a gambling issue, he takes the cash and blows it all at casinos

Uh-oh, when I rang up my royalties, you started avoiding me, that’s some disloyalty…”

In addition to Hopsin, former label signees Dizzy Wright and Jarren Benton also parted ways from Funk Volume.
