As Domo Genesis preps the forthcoming release of Genesis, his forthcoming debut album, the Odd Future MC took his talents to the skating rink recently, to try on something “Dapper.”

Serving as the first single from his self-titled LP, the groovy and soulful tune finds Domo two-stepping alongside our unofficial MVP for SXSW 2016, Anderson .Paak. As for how the surprise collaboration came together, Domo credits Dr. Dre’s Compton album.

“It was around the time that the Compton album came out,” he told REVOLT, while on the set of the “Dapper” music video shoot. “I remember hearing ‘All In A Day’s Work’ and I was like, Man this shit was heat. So, I went on [Anderson’s] Twitter and saw that he was following me already, so I just hit him up like, Yo I dig everything you did on Compton… what’s the deal? He told me where he was at and I was like, Yo, I’m around the corner at the studio [and] he pulled up that same [moment] and we made this shit.”

.Paak is one of several collaborators on Domo’s new LP, including Tyler, the Creator; Mac Miller; Wiz Khalifa; Juicy J; Left Brain and more.

“This is my debut album. I’ve done a lot of mixtapes, but this one means a lot. This is the first time I’ve put together an album that really has a focus on who I am,” he shared. “I had a lot of mixtapes that told you what I do and what I believe in, but this tells you who I am, my background, my upbringing, what influenced me, my mind state everything.

“This is me in my very simplest form.”

Genesis is available on March 25 on Odd Future Records. With its release fans will sure get a clearer view into the world of Domo. Album pre-order is available now on iTunes.
