Sia and reoccurring dancer Maddie Ziegler, team up for another swinging performance.
The fierce dramatic dancer who starred in the clips for “Chandelier,” “Elastic Heart” with Shia LaBeouf, and “Big Girls Cry,” all from 2014’s 1000 Forms of Fear, steps back to a center-stage for a fancy footwork number. Directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, the visual follows the lyric video version of the song that was released in February featuring Sean Paul. Originally wrote and intended for Rihanna, “Cheap Thrills” is the latest single off Sia’s concept album, This Is Acting, which is a set of songs she initially wrote for other artists.
“I realized just as soon as I was cutting it that it sounded a little bit too Brit-pop for her,” Sia told Rolling Stone. “It’s more Icona Pop. We did actually send it to her, but they passed on it, and then I just couldn’t stop listening to it in the car,” she told the music mag. “I wouldn’t normally be just jamming out to my own tunes. There’s something really uplifting about it that put me in a good mood … It felt very summer and fun, and I was like, ‘I’ll put that on there.’”
