The first trailer for the controversial biopic on Nina Simone, titled “Nina,” is now here.

Following years of production issues and casting controversy, the biopic on the High Priestess of Soul released its first trailer with a theatrical debut set for next month.

Zoe Saldana takes on the role of Simone in the film, which focuses on the later years of the late musician’s career. The film co-stars David Oyelowo as Clifton Henderson, Simone’s friend-turned-manager.

According to the film’s distributor, RLJ Entertainment, “Nina” will be simultaneously released in theaters, digital HD and video-on-demand on April 22.
