It looks and sounds like the same news headline, but fact is fact and numbers don’t lie. Adele ’s 25 once again rules the Billboard 200 albums chart for its tenth nonconsecutive week.
According to Billboard, the pop powerhouse’s latest set sold 100,000 units sold (81,000 in pure album sales) last week, which makes it the fifth album since 2000 to achieve 10 weeks at No. 1. Adele’s 25 follows Taylor Swift’s 1989, the Frozen soundtrack, her own 21, and Swift’s Fearless — all previous albums that spent over 10 weeks at No. 1.
Elsewhere on the chart, Rihanna’s ANTI climbs from No. 3 to No. 2 with 80,000 units, while Justin Bieber’s Purpose slips to numero 3 with 63,000 copies.
Yo Gotti, whose been on a wear and tear with his hit single “Down In the DM,” scored his highest peak position on the album chart with The Art of the Hustle. The rapper’s new album snatched the No. 4 spot with 61,000 units (45,000 in pure sales). Gotti’s last top 10 release was 2013’s I Am, which debuted at No. 7. The new set also entered No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Rap Albums and Digital Albums charts.
Next week’s chart is expected to feature Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s recently released This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, which is projected to sell between 45,000 and 55,000 units according to HitsDoubleDaily.
