Last week, Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz drove social media into a frenzy when the two posted footage of them playing a portion of Bus’ new record “Aaahhhh!” while in Swizz’s studio. Followers and fans saluted the two legends, immediately asking when the record was coming out and though Busta still hasn’t announced a release date, the duo sat down with REVOLT prior to taping a performance for the 30th anniversary of “Showtime at the Apollo” to give us more more insight into their latest collaboration.
“[‘Showtime at the Apollo’ is] where we’re gonna do our first world premiere, debut performance of this new banger with me and Swizz,” Bus said. “The joint is called ‘Aaahhhh!!!’ That’s it. We back to the freedom of this rap shit. We back to the freedom of the creative spirit and creative energy. We ain’t really gonna be doing all of this play-by-the-rules shit no more. We gonna let ya’ll do that. We gonna set rules and set the standards and dictate the rules again. That’s the shit we come from and we just want to inspire ya’ll to do the same.”
“I’m just ready to be dangerous,” Swizz chimed in.
The “Showtime at the Apollo” 30th Anniversary special special airs tonight, December 5, at 8pm EST on FOX. The program will also feature a R&B medley with Bell Biv DeVoe, SWV and Jodeci among other stars taking to the stage.
