Growing up in this crazy world in general can be tough for young adults under any normal circumstances. Growing Up Hip-Hop is another ballgame entirely. For the six cast members that are included in WEtv’s new series, things have never really been regular.

Romeo Miller, son of Percy “Master P” Miller, has been in the spotlight since his childhood Lil Romeo days and is still looking to make a real name for himself. Angela Simmons, who along with Miller serve as co-producers on the show, also has been in the public eye for a while now due to her family’s previous hit reality show Run’s House following her famous pops, Rev Run, and her siblings wacky at-home antics. That show would set the table for series such as this, providing viewers a window into the behind the scenes of the rap industry’s private world.

Some of the the other cast members are a little less known but ready to break out on their own, such as TJ Mizell, son of iconic DJ Jam Master Jay, who has been slowly climbing the ranks of the New York underground music circuit as a DJ/producer and is set to tour with ASAP Ferg in Europe this spring. And Boogie Dash, who has carried on his father Dame’s entrepreneurial spirit with several of his own small businesses. Then there is Eygpt Criss and Kristinia DeBarge, both singers from famous families who are really trying to make their way as new faces to the entertainment game.

The focus of the series is definitely motivational for anyway who wants to create their own legacy and at the same time gain a sneak peek into already established empires.
