Sometime before his “Happy” legacy and string of activist accolades, Pharrell Williams was better known as Skateboard P.
With the launch of his Billionaire Boys Club & Ice Cream clothing line in 2005, Pharrell set the style tone for aspiring skateboard enthusiasts and underground hypebeasts. After taking a departure from the brand for a few years, Pharrell and his partners have repurchased the 50% interest and ownership in Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream brands. Housed under Iconix’s brand management group, the company said in a statement, “it was a strategic decision to rationalize smaller noncore assets in the Iconix portfolio, allowing us to focus our time and resources on the larger cash flow generating brands. BBC and Ice Cream represented less than 1 percent of our total business.”
This acquisition allows Williams and his partners to resume full control over the two brands, and further expand the market growth and creative control. Happy to have you back P.
