Yasiin Bey, commonly known as Mos Def, continues to find himself in treading in deep water.

After reports last year that claimed the rapper-actor was denied entry into the United States for a planned tour, he has now been detained in South Africa, according to a government spokesperson. Bey was reportedly traveling with a fraudulent passport says Department of Home Affairs spokesman Mayihlome Tshwete to the Associated Press.

The 42-year-old acclaimed musician appeared in court earlier today (January 15) after his arrest at the Cape Town International Airport on Thursday, along with family members who were also in the country without a valid permit. According to the spokesperson, Bey told authorities that he was traveling with a “world passport,” which was quickly refuted as “there is no such thing.” Bey now has 14 days to leave the country, due to a court order, also barring his entrance to South Africa for five years.
