Rapper Bobby Shmurda was scheduled to appear in court today (October 5) before Judge James Burke, however trial has since been pushed to January 11. The Supreme Court’s Clerk Office confirmed the date with REVOLT, as Shmurda and other members in the GS9 case are all scheduled to appear in court next year.

The 21-year-old rapper, born Ackquille Pollard, has been incarcerated, along with 14 other alleged GS9 members, since December 2014.

While trial did not officially begin today, the rapper’s new lawyer, Alex Spiro of Brafman & Associates, appeared in court for the case and received news that Pollard was denied another bail request.

As Page Six reports, a trial date of February 22 was suggested, but Spiro objected and asked for his client to be released pending the trial. However, Special Narcotics Prosecutor Nigel Farinha brought up the fact that Pollard had been denied at least four bail applications and pointed to the case against the rapper getting stronger.

The “Hot Boy” rapper is charged with with multiple conspiracy counts, one count of reckless endangerment, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Pollard’s new attorney declined to comment on the case.
