It’s been over a year since Cam’ron announced plans for a sequel to his arguable magnum opus, Purple Haze. As the second edition to his 2004 album, which spawned classics such as “Down & Out” and “Get ‘Em Girls,” Cam revealed the news back in 2014 as well as plans for retirement. In an interview with REVOLT, he prepped a December 2015 release, but that has since come and gone. Now, Killa Cam finally appears ready to give the green light on part two of the LP he still claims as his “favorite.”
Big L’s accused murderer shot and killed in Harlem
Taking to Instagram last night (July 25), Cam teased a verse off “Losing Weight Pt. 3,” a song series that has been a linchpin within his catalog. In it, Cam left the internet abuzz after addressing Big L and his alleged murderer: “139 Park, we started off as children / Grew up with Big L, and the dude who supposedly killed him / A week before that, though, Big L had tried to kill him / What was he to do? / Please don’t get in ya feelings. When the time’s right I will tell you about these villains / Now everybody dead, so it ain’t about squealing.”
The verse comes after L’s accused murderer, Gerard Woodley, was ironically shot and killed on the same block L died.
Cam’ron’s Purple Haze 2 couldn’t arrive any sooner. But as the wait continues, refresh your memory with the last two installments of Cam’s “Losing Weight” series below.
