Big Boi Confirms: No Outkast Album On The Way

Not the news we were hoping for.

There's apparently no bigger fan of HBO's hit series Game Of Thrones than Big Boi, one half of the Mighty Outkast. In the past few months, Big hosted a GOT party at Sundance, and last weekend, he played host at another soiree in New Orleans during NBA All-Star Weekend.

Exclusive: Big Boi On Outkast Reunion: 'It's For The Fans'

Catching up with him backstage, we spoke with Big about his love for the show (he's really into the writing), why he's such a diehard fan ("I could definitely relate to kings and queens and dungeons and dragons - I come from that whole era, so it's only right"), and his expectations for the upcoming new season.

But of course, we couldn't talk to Big without chopping it up about new music, especially just weeks before he and Andre 3000 head out on the road for their 40 festival dates, including a just-announced spot at Drake's OVO Fest.

On a non-Outkast note, Big's actually working on a Game Of Thrones-inspired mixtape. "I think it'll be out in the next couple of weeks," he revealed, "We got Common, Wale doing something, and I'm doing a track as well on there. And a couple surprise guests."

Switching gears to that rumored Outkast reunion LP, Big was quick to confirm our suspicions and shoot down assumptions. Asked about the likelihood of a seventh album from the group, Big said, "No, no, no. We're just doing the tour only, just for the fans. That's all it is, just the tour."

"It's just the Outkast 20th year anniversary, just a way for us to celebrate with our fans, but there's no album in the works, no," Big further clarified.

So, there you have it. 40 festival dates. Solo LPs on the way. No Outkast album. It might not be the news we were hoping for, but we'll take it.
