Meek Mill is home.
As reported earlier, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered the immediate release of the embattled rapper, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, following a long legal battle.
The rapper was greeted by a large gathering of fans, who blocked lanes outside of the Chester State Correctional Institution. Earlier in the day, Kevin Hart and Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, who also facilitated the visits by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft earlier this month, paid Meek a visit and said he was in “good spirits.”
Rubin also arranged to pick Meek up from prison, and immediately shared a photo of the two men, and a crew, in the car. Meek can clearly be seen smiling and throwing up a peace sign.
Last week, the rapper was denied bail by Judge Genece Brinkley, who levied a two to four-year sentence on the rapper. Brinkley had been criticized for having what many have considered to be a bias against Meek.
Following the news of his release, the “Dreams and Nightmares” rapper thanked family, friends and public advocates for their support during his five-month ordeal.
Meek Mill’s incarceration sparked a nationwide outcry, which was amplified by the support from Al Sharpton and his National Action Network, JAY-Z, Colin Kaepernick, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, and many more, including the Governor of Pennsylvania Tom Wolf.
